Strong partner relations

The majority of orphan drugs are developed by small and medium-sized pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies, or at universities. By maintaining close contacts with these players across the globe, Swedish Orphan International participates in the research being conducted.

For instance, Swedish Orphan International continually evaluates the substances under development, how these preparations can help patients, as well as the potential demand for the product. Today, Swedish Orphan International works with about 30 partners. These partnerships are characterized by close contact, open dialogue, trust and sharing of knowledge. The reason why our partners choose to work with us is because this allows them to focus on what they do best; research and development. We also have several partners with their core business in other parts of the world or outside the orphan drug segment, who seek a reliable partner for commercialization of their products in the European marketplace. By working closely with us, they gain access to expertise and resources relating to orphan drugs, local regulatory issues, national legislation, medical information and our logistics network, ensuring that these important drugs really reach patients in time.

Swedish Orphan International is continuously looking for interesting marketed products or late-stage development compounds within the specialty pharmaceuticals and orphan drug segment, for co-development, in-licensing, acquisition or distribution for all or parts of the EU region including Central-Eastern Europe. We are also looking for suitable partners for out-licensing or distribution of our proprietary products in additional markets outside Europe.
