For over twenty years, Swedish Orphan International’s commitment to patients with rare disorders has gone hand in hand with healthy financial growth. The company has grown steadily with good profitability making it possible to invest in making available an increasing number of orphan drugs for an increasing number of rare disease patients. With such a past, we look to the future with confidence.

1988 Swedish Orphan International AB is established in Sweden.

1995
Oy Swedish Orphan is established in Finland.

1996
Swedish Orphan A/S is established in Denmark.

1996
Swedish Orphan AS is established in Norway.

1998
Swedish Orphan KK is founded in Japan.

1999
Swedish Orphan AB is established.

2002
Swedish Orphan International Ltd. is established in the UK.

2002
Orfadin is approved for sale in the USA.

2004
Swedish Orphan International Holding AB is acquired by Investor Growth Capital and Skandia Investment. The company is also owned by the SOI management.

2005
Orfadin is approved for sale throughout the EU.

2006
Swedish Orphan International establishes offices in Italy, Spain, Germany and France. Metcon Medicine, a pharmaceutical company, is acquired.

2007
Swedish Orphan International establishes an office in the Czech Republic.

2008 Swedish Orphan International establishes an office in Russia and now covers all of Europe from the new offices abroad. The company acquires licenses for 14 new drugs.

2009 Multiferon® is approved in another 14 European Countries.
